Yes, you can always query the database to test that the username has logged in or registered. As of now, what you are requesting is not yet supported by the current script but you can always modify the script to fit your application. The license of this script is open source.

If you can code it yourself, you can always get the feature you need. Thank you also for using the script

Andrew, thanks for dropping by. I heartily disagree with you.To say that the analysis on this page is useless is the same as saying searches data from Google are worthless. The backbone data of this research comes from Google which is not a joke. Whether you hate Justin Bieber or a big fan of the Kardashians- I don’t really care. This post is written with the intention to inform (of course subject to my disclaimer).

You can perform your own research and publish it somewhere then we can happily read it too. Till then your accusation that this page is useless is not only untrue but rather also misleading

I agree web searches in no way reflect popularity in software frameworks. Celebrity name searches do not have anything to do with a software framework. If a user cannot find good info on a topic relating to a framework then they try again.. And again… And again.

Maybe try a combination approach, total framework downloads, your web search stats, Alexa stats…. Such things

Till then this page is not only useless but misleading

I am using W3 Total Cache and was able to make all the options work (CDN also) on shared hosting account.This helped me in increasing my page speed score to 95.

I have not tried Quick Cache but definitely give it a try.

Hi:

In case you want to use PuTTY on Linux you have 2 options:

1. Using PuTTY linux version:
Paste text clicking on the mouse middle button.

Usually Laptops touchpads do not have middle button anymore, so I simulated the middle button, clicking both left and right buttons.

Since Linux Mint distro I’m using had not this middle button simulation activated (The latest version of evdev, version 2.5, changed the default for the middle mouse button emulation code. This change has disabled emulation of the middle mouse button by clicking the left and right mouse buttons) I needed to enable it manually:

Enabling the middle mouse button emulation adding this to xorg.conf snippet:

Section “InputClass”
Identifier “middle button emulation class”
MatchIsPointer “on”
Option “Emulate3Buttons” “on”
EndSection

2. Using PuTTY Windows version (on wine):

Copy and Paste works as in windows.

In order to connect to console serial ports, Wine needs to be configured to connect its virtual serial ports devices (COM1, etc) to teh real Linux serial port devices (ttyS0, TTYUSB0, etc).

Since wine handles com ports by having a link to the device (ie /dev/ttyUSB0), in the ~/.wine/dosdevices folder, this link would be created as follows, in order to update your wine profile configs:

ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1

I prefer this second method, since the copy paste works allways, I do not need the middle button simulation (changing Linux distro settings like Xorg parameters) and, the sherry in the top of the cake, it NEVER hangs (occasionally PuTTY for Windows hangs on some winXP installations, LOL).

Otherwise, in case you do not need/want to install wine, the first method is preferable.

I disagree, web searches do equate popularity. In real life, popular entities do have high amount of web searches. Think about celebrities like Justin Bieber and other buzz on this planet. They have high web searches also. This is why I mined the web searches data to correlate with the popularity.

Although if you can give me data about the installed instances of each framework then I would surely be grateful. It is because until now, I find it challenging where to look at that data. Yeah you are right that installed instances correlate to a much more meaningful popularity. But you cannot rule out web searches too.

This doesn’t indicate anything other than search trends.

One framework may have far better documentation than another so web searches for answers are less frequent.

Likewise one framework may be harder to learn than another, requiring more searches for answers to basic questions.

To equate web searches to popularity is meaningless. The only realistic measure of popularity would be installed instances of each framework.

CodeIgniter popularity will from now on steadily decrease because they are doing a license change to OSL and they just declared that their current and future license is incompatible to any GPL software or library.
Talk about sawing on the branch you are sitting on.
The codeigniter searches may be increased recently but that may be just a followup to the debacle around the license issue.

I found this site looking for backup tools. I use the phpMyAdmin interface all the time and I wanted to automate this. Unfortunately I don’t have the right permissions to run this script on the server but I found this tool MySQLBackupFTP (http://mysqlbackupftp.com) that can connect to MySQL through phpMyAdmin and backup the database.
It has a free version that compress your backup and allows you to send it to a remote FTP server.
If you have permission problems like I did, you may want to give this tool a try.

Yup, it goes something like the hacker will exploit something in your blog and then if it successfully entered your blog and do some mess, he/she will then say “OWNED and DEFACED by…”. Its kind of that these things will occur. If I can find these nasty hackers I would be happy to enter their room and shot their head with a 9mm pistol without saying anything.
Back to your question: So how to find out if my plugin is safe or not? Try searching in Google for example: “name of plugin” + “vulnerability” or “name of plugin” + “hack”. You can check with the results if the plugin is safe or not. If you are not afraid to do something very technical:
1.) Read this post in Skipfish: http://www.devshed.com/c/a/Security/Skipfish-Website-Vulnerability-Scanner/
2.) Install your blog in localhost with the plugin you suspect has some vulnerability.
3.) Run skipfish on your blog and check if skipfish find some vulnerability on that plugin.
4.) Done.

Jesus Christ! I have lost the Excel file that I used in computing the pie chart! Anyway I have mentioned that “The source of the data is Google keyword tool that basically provides the amount of searches for that PHP framework in a one month time frame worldwide. The higher the searches for that framework in Google, the more popular will be the PHP framework.”

So basically what I did is mine some data using this Google Keyword tool: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
For example comparing the EXACT match of popularity (in searches) between Symfony and Zend framework. It clearly shows Zend framework is ahead in terms of exact match queries (exact means that it is the exact word being inputted in the Google search box), see screenshot:

Thanks for your input but I strongly disagree. You cannot rule out PHP outperforming dot net by licensing criteria alone. I am a PHP developer myself but I also strongly believe the power of .NET. There are just things that PHP can’t do that .NET does very well. Remember that .NET is a COMPLETE framework and LOT OF GREAT and free tools available. Talking about licensing, it is not a serious issue as I have tried and completed developing a complex ASP.NET website using only their free version of Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express. And it works pretty great.

You just made a great point here! Actually think of Blogger as a hosting solution. After all if you do not own the hosting solution (which 99% of all bloggers in the internet belongs), you SHOULD make periodic backups of your content. There is always a risk of losing it if you do not own it. But if you host the content in your own server, you can still be responsible for doing backups. Performing backups is a necessity to every website long term operations.

That’s great, me too before I always do backup using the control panel or PHPmyAdmin interface. Now I simply go to the backup folder in the SSH server and directly download the MySQL database backup. Very simple!

Complex is relative: chmod -R user:users /opt/lampp/htdocs
Or mount a directory inside your home with bind, that’s what i do:
mount -o bind /home/user/devel/app /opt/lampp/htdocs/app
And you only need to change Ownership ones. root can read all files, no matter who they belong too.

I would use the System which I’m more familiar with and where my Development Environment works better. (vim and Linux for me).

Just reading your post and noticed you have got around the problem of injection with numeric twice. you have quoted your number variable which means that anything other than an integer value will actually return an empty set as your where clause will end up looking as follows. WHERE `number` = ’1 OR 1=1′; as you can no doubt see this will return an empty set.

This is indeed a very old article which was written two years ago. Static pages seems to be resolved but having to control fully the hosting features is not yet supported by blogger. I still have to review what are the features that are missing in blogger hosting which can only be available in paid hosting. I will write an article for this.

This must be very old article.

Now, for long time, Blogger has upto 10 static pages per blog. Meanwhile if u don’t like their official templates, u are very welcome to make modification or just use tons of free templates availabe from third party.

I love Blogger because it’s fully configurable.

These are all good points. I like Blogger, because things look OK out of the box, because it seems it is ranked higher in Google search results, and because I don’t have to worry about traffic spikes. On the other hand, I do agree with your worries about losing content. I found a work-around though: (1) A custom domain allows me to switch to my own server should Google close down my blog. (2) Editing my files offline before putting them online ensures that I always have a backup.

Hi, but how to set rel canonical on single blogspot posts? I know how to edit the rel in the backend of blogspot to one domain – but as you mention “rel canonical tag appearing in each of those Blogspot URL” – I also tried out the linked tutorial but its how to move to another domain – but I can’t find the solution how to insert the individual rel canonical on each blogspot post header…

Why is ASP.NET more powerful and faster than PHP?
On what data is this assumption based?

I’ve developed commercial software in .NET / ASP.NET, but IMNSHO .NET-solutions are out-of-the-box LESS performant than PHP-based solutions. That’s mostly because of all the useless clutter (most components have to be rewritten or replaced) thats flying around in a base .NET (SDK) install.

It is very important to use safe plugins. Otherwise anybody can e.g. download your full database, or see other files that are in the folders, ets… I tried to google a little bit, but I didn’t find any list with unsafe plugins…So how to find out if my plugin is safe or not?

Hello Erick,
Sorry for my late reply, I was fixing a bug in my comment template. Anyway did you resolved this problem? If not,follow this simple procedure (This is updated since Network solutions change the style of their website):
Step 1: Login to network solutions-> manage all services
Step 2: Below “..your products previously called”…. find the word “domain” and click it
Step 3: Under “your services”, depending on the number of domain your registered with network solutions, for example if I have one domain, click the link “Manage it” besides “You have 1 domain name”.
Step 4: Under “domain currently points to”, click “edit”
Step 5: CLick “Manage Advanced DNS Records”
Step 6: In the Advanced DNS Records, you can then find two records: IP address and CNAME.
Step 7: Change all “numeric IP” to none (A-records), all items (www,@, * all others) under “Numeric IP” should be set to NONE
Step 8: In the cname records: set,
alias -> www
TTL -> 7200
Step 9: Check or select other host and put :
ghs.google.com.
VERY IMPORTANT:the dot in the last should be included (i mean after .com)
Step 10: Click OK.
